Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker put on a Fight of the Year contender in the main event of UFC on ESPN 12, and then were transported to the hospital. Hooker, who rightly lost the decision, checked out and the talked about it on his social network.
“Hey everyone, just back at the hotel with the lads having a feed,” said Hooker, as transcribed by Ryan Harkness for MMA Mania. “Got checked out of the hospital, everything’s all good. Just a couple of stitches on the eye. Hey, that’s the game we play, no worries. It’s just a small setback and I’ll be back!”
“Credit to Poirier better man on the night, no regrets, no excuses,” he added in the caption. “Minor setbacks ain’t a major for me.”
Hooker earned an extra 50k for the FOTY, but a fight like that, it deserves more.
