Cruz: If Lesnar makes it to fight I'll be shocked
Former UFC featherweight champion Dominick Cruz appeared recently on The Scott & BR Show and discussed the return of Brock Lesnar. Lesnar's last return was ruined by a failed anti-doping test, the results of which unfortunately came back after the fight had happened, eventually resulting in a No Contest. There are widespread returns that it will happen again.
UFC vice president of athlete health and performance Jeff Novitzky has referenced a smell test to determine when extra testing might be appropriate. Brock Lesnar smells worse than 1,000 angry skunks that dined on Durian for a decade. Cruz was asked if there's worry about Lesnar and PEDs.
"Absolutely, 100 percent," replied Cruz, as transcribed by Drake Riggs for BJPenn.com. "If he makes it to the fight I'd be shocked. And I just mean that because USADA is the toughest anti-doping system there is on planet Earth. And that guy is absolutely doping. Period. No ifs ands or buts about it."
"I mean he's not been in mixed martial arts. So, of course, he's been doing that stuff. How they're going to get him to be clean on fight night is beyond me. But they can make it happen, they will and if anyone can make it happen it's the UFC and USADA making sure that everyone is clean. With those two working together he's not getting in there unless he's clean."
"There's two ways to look at it for me. There's an analytical way to look at it then there's the fun way to look at it. For me, the fun way to look at it is, of course, that was entertaining. And the reason is, you got to understand that people want beef, people want drama, people want problems, people want disrespect, people want to see how people react to disrespect. Unfortunately, that's the world we live in. If it doesn't have shock value, it has nothing. So Daniel Cormier's giving the people what they want."
